Q:  How do I get into the items menu?
A:  Just press "e" on the keyboard.

Q:  Why can't I place the block where I want to put it?
A:  You're probably standing on the square you want to put the block.

Q:  What if a cow walks into my house?
A:  Go to the stick icon in the items menu and lure the cow out with some wheat.

Q:  What if a sheep walks into my house?
A:  Go to the stick icon in the items menu and lure the sheep out with some wheat.

Q:  What if a chicken walks into my house?
A:  Lure the chicken out with seeds from the stick icon.

Q:  What if a pig walks into my house?
A:  Go to the apple icon and lure it out with a carrot.

Q:  What do I do when it gets dark?
A:  Just go to the rose icon in the items menu and get a torch.

Project 1: Answers

1.  If 5 people can live in each house, how many houses would you need for 40 people?  8

2.  If the front wall of your house has 20 blocks and you take away 2 for a door, how many blocks are left?  18

3.  If 10 chickens come into the house and you manage to get 4 chickens out with seeds, how many chickens are left?  6

Project 1: How to Build a Stone & Brick House

Getting Started:
Open up Minecraft, 
Log into Minecraft or if you’re already logged in, just click play,
Click single player,
Click create new world,
Double click on the button that says Game Mode Survival to change it to Game Mode Creative,
Name your world whatever you want,
Click Create new world again,
Wait for your new world to load,
Now you're ready to begin...

1.  Press the "e" on your keyboard to go to your items menu.
2.  Add stone blocks to your inventory by left clicking on the stone block and then left click on one of the gray squares at the bottom.  Scroll down, left click on the brick block and put that in another one of the gray squares. 
3.  Select the Decoration Blocks icon and left click on the glass pane and then add it to your inventory as well. 
4.  Select the Redstone icon and click on the wooden door and add one to your inventory. 
5.  Press "e" to get out of the items menu.  You have an infinite number of the items you have placed in your inventory.  The inventory squares correspond to the numbers on your keyboard.  Press 1 to select stones, press 2 to select bricks and so on.  
6.  Navigate through Minecraft by pressing the "w" and "s" keys to go up and down and the "a" and "d" keys to go left and right.  Press the space bar to jump and fly up and press the shift keys to fly down.  
7.  Find a big flat surface and dig a 5 by 5 square 1 block deep by left clicking on the mouse.  This is the area where you will be building your house.  If you accidentally destroy a block, you can right click on the same spot to replace it. 
8.  Layer 1:  The Foundation - Make sure you have selected stone blocks by pressing 1 on the keyboard.  Using right clicks, place 1 stone block in each corner.  Press 2 to switch to bricks and fill the rest of the foundation with brick blocks.  
9.  Layer 2:  The Walls - Begin building the walls by placing 1 stone block in each corner again.  Place 11 brick blocks between the corners leaving a 3 by 3 square empty in the center and 1 space must be left in the middle of one of the walls for the door.  Press 4, then place the door in the space you provided. 
10.  Layer 3:  The Walls Continued - Continue by placing 4 stone blocks in each corner for the third time.  Press 3 to select glass pane and place one in the center of each wall accept for the wall with the door.  Fill in the remaining spaces with bricks. 
11.  Layer 4:  Completing The Walls - Place 1 stone block in each corner for the fourth time and place 3 brick blocks between each corner to complete the walls.  
12.  Layer 5:  The Roof - Place a 5 by 5 square of stone blocks on top covering the 3 by 3 hole in the center.  To place a stone block over and empty space, click on the side of the wall block next to the space you want to fill. 
13.  Layer 6:  Completing the Roof - Place 9 stone blocks in the center of the roof creating a 3 by 3 square.
